Mathelium A level Maths

Pearson Edexcel A level Mathematics · 9MA0

A level Maths you can turn in your hands.

Every topic starts on a moving board: the working is written out in front of you while a voice explains it. Then the graph lifts off the page in 3D and you drag it, turn it and test it yourself, before a worksheet that ends on an exam style question.

A Mathelium board lesson: the distance between (1, 2) and (4, 6) worked out with Pythagoras, written by hand on graph paper

How a section works

Four steps, in the order you learn best.

Every section of the course follows the same path, so you always know where you are and what comes next.

  1. 1

    Guess first

Each lesson opens with a question. You make a guess before anything is explained, and the lesson replies to the answer you chose.

    A lesson opening with a guess: how far apart are (1, 2) and (4, 6)? Options 5, 7 and 25
  2. 2

    Turn the model

At the key moment the picture rises off the board in 3D. Drag the point round the circle, fold the square, slide the line: the numbers update as you move it.

    A 3D unit circle beside the graph of sin x, with a slider showing x = 150 degrees and sin x = 0.5
  3. 3

    Work the sheet

A worksheet sits beside a figure you can move. You predict, derive and practise, with hints when you are stuck and an explanation for each common mistake.

The worksheet for Length and area, with a movable figure on the left and the distance formula on the right
  4. 4

    Finish on an exam question

Every section ends with an exam style question marked the way examiners mark, and every chapter ends with a chapter test.

For parents

You can see exactly where they are.

  • The course follows the exam board specification, section by section, with each section's spec reference shown.
  • A dashboard shows sections completed, tasks done, exam style marks and study time.
  • The learning assistant records the mistakes your child makes, explains them and sets practice on them.
  • Every worked answer in the course is checked by computer algebra before it goes live.
  • It runs in a web browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Nothing to install.
